Sources for materials

Hi all, a newbie to this forum and welding. I've just bought a Clarke 150TE and intend to use it on several projects around the house and workshop (currently restoring a Yamaha FJ1200 and two 1960's BSA's). One query I have immediately is where to source metal - I know that sounds daft but I've never had the need to buy any before! I live in Chelmsford, Essex. Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier?

Best one to answer that i think would be snowcat as he is from Essex. first steel supplier that comes to mind is brandon's steel in the essex area

Industrial metal services (IMS) are the biggest in essex, There my way at southend, (huge stock) If your phoneing for a price (and do so) overwise your be ripped off then speek to lofty on cash sale's. For specials bronze, copper CDS tube etc i use E&Js, Theres also Clifton steels at Canvey there the DIY side of IMS, they will cut to size and sell off cuts etc but be warned they charge DIY prices so often its cheeper to go direct and buy a full length from there sister co. IMS.
