Sorry I'm new

Like I say I'm new to all this, so please forgive what may seem basic. I would like a TIG welder and a plasma cutter for my embrio workshop. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I've restored cars in the past with my Cebora MIG but now I hear about all this new technology (OF WHICH THE INTERNET IS ONE) and it really excites me.

I assume you are doing a Spartan at the moment I like the old style looking cars but I prefer the simplicity of the 7 design for self builds. I'm on my second and have helped with a few others as well (5 from various makers). Good luck and enjoy your building and welding but don't get hung up on the technology if what you already have works for you.

You know what, I was just thinking about my "name" last night and how it may be a little missleading, the "spartan" is from a previous career, but Ive got a shocking memory for log-ins and such like so I use the same one on all forums.
The car(s) I'm in to at the moment are Karmann Ghias as my Mrs loves the look of them, and that's half the battle won! Though I also have my special project that I'm collecting parts for at the moment, it's a bit of a secrect at the moment but in short it'll be a chassis clothed in a classic body.
Imagine a car thats weighs about 1000kg is front engined, RWD and has a 400bhp V8, which reminds me to bid on that gearbox on e-bay!
So far I've got the shell and the engine so that's the two big parts out the way, lets face it 400bhp V8s aint cheap!
If anyone knows much about making wishbone suspensions around Porsche 928 uprights I like to hear what you've got to say, was thinking of buying some S2 uprights so I can use their bigger brakes.

550 Spyder? There was a lovely one in NZ for sale a while ago with a Subaru twin turbo motor from an Impreza WTI. Very nicely done.

Can't help with the TIG advice, as I'm in a similar situation to you. I bought a chinese 4-in-1 TIG/Plasma unit from supplier who offers backup & parts support but haven't got to grip with it yet. I'm starting an evening course in TIG tomorrow night (woot woot!) and will probably post some images once I get it (or me) dialed in.

Incidentally, "my embrio workshop" - You know you can't use stem cells, yeah?
