Sorry, another "What TIG" type thread!

Folks, I'm new and looking for a bit of advice...

I'm after a TIG set, for use in a home garage, so powered by a 13A socket.
I would like AC/DC, and HF start.
I would ideally like the ability to add a foot pedal for when I come to learn aluminium welding, but I'll be starting on mild steel, then stainless steel well before moving onto aluminium.
I can't see me ever needing to weld anything thicker than 6mm-8mm steel.

I have a nominal budget of £1000 for the set up (without gas bottle)...but could probably go another £100-200 above for a 'better' machine.

There seems to be a lot of choice at between £600-£1000 but don't want something that will fail 7 days out of warranty and be impossible to get spares for.

Can anyone suggest a proven machine for me to have a look at?

I've been using a Parweld XTI 200 AC/DC set at home, it gets used everyday and has performed faultlesslly for the last 2 years, good set and can be bought for around £800

just wondering how long have Parwel been around must say ive been looking at getting one they look very well engineered, how long have they been around also worried about spares availability.

No problem with spares as far as i can see, they are a well known make, also un the rear of mine its says made in japan.

The R-Tech machines are good, it's a reengineered Chinese sourced machine, well backed by the UK supplier. I've got the AC161, and it's about the limit for 13A, although larger machines as inverter will be okay until you turn the wick right up. I got my set up, including 20l rent free gas and the pedal under your budget.
