Depending on how long you have been in Norway with it, you could say that a smart man might have planned ahead for this situation.

Ha ha very true..my stay was much longer than expected though, due to an incident at sea involving hospitalisation, lifeboat rescue, damage, etc.. so please Sir I've got an excuse!

Yes I have thank you. I got knocked cold by a wooden boom, basically like being blindsided by a 250kg baseball bat!
Luckily I didn't have too many brain cells to start with, so no permanent damage

So, I have a question thats similar to this thread.

My dad has a 1974 Vauxhall Magnum. She was taken off the road in 1990 and has been garaged since. (Never SORNed as this was waaay before that came in)

We want to transfer the V5 to me and then I will move her to my place for restoration/rebuild.

I would like to keep the original V5 paperwork with dads name on it for sentimental reasons (he is the only registered keeper of the vehicle to date and I would like to keep that piece of paper!). So cam we transfer ownership online, keep the original V5 (albeit void) and then do I need to SORN the car? Its still on the MOT database and MID etc so hopefully there will be no issues with them saying it no longer exists!

Get a transfer of ownership form from the post office and claim the original logbook has been lost/misplaced (there will be a cost) but at least you could then, errrr, find the lost paperwork in some old paperwork at a later date.....

My Nimbus had a 1981 V5 and I phoned DVLA to find out how to get an up to date document, they sent me a new one without having to pay the £25 fee. Perhaps try that first in your Fathers name then change the new document?
