Yeah I know that bit but the tip is weird and it has a packing piece to the side of it..

Spiral flute tap?

Gold thing is a through-coolant milling cutter and the last looks to be a spiral flute tap.

Spiral Flute Taps don't need backing out every turn and are ideal for machine tapping.

The first one looks like a carbide tip with negative tool geometry. They are often used for aluminium alloys, as aluminium tends to 'smear' rather than chip as normal steels would. The tool itself would be used for surface finishing, particularly of bored holes after drilling or trepanning to ensure that the walls are smooth and the bore is to a tight tolerance.

I often come across tipped tooling that has been packed out with a smaller tip and visa versa...ive done it myself when i have,nt had the correct coded tip for the holder and it needs jacking up.

It's a kludge and your tolerances can go to Hell in a handbasket if you pack the tips, though. For roughing out it's OK but forget it for close tolerance work.
