some advice

I've been maken a porch for my lecturer at college, its made out of aluminium so been tig welding it, I'm very poor at this type of welding but starting to improve but today i relised i have to weld a 1.5mm Aluminium plate on to a 6mm plate. Anyone any tips for doing this? I tacked some of them today with amps of about 80 and concentrated the heat onto the 6mm material.
But will be welding it fully tomorrow.

you using a footpedal?
concentrate the heat onto the 6mm plate then wash the puddle quickly onto the sheet.
dont know about settings though, just take your time

What type of joint? Tall order welding so thick to so thin, 80 amps on 6mm is way too low, cold weld all round.

got it all welded today, had to put the amps up at 120. As i said wasnt really keen on Tig welding but may have to concentrate more on that

Good stuff Kenny, nothing better than cutting yer teeth at the deep end!! TIG is a good process to have under your belt.......
