Soldering chromed parts

I will shortly need to replace the chromed mesh in the chromed radiator surround on my project car.
I have been told that I will need to have the surround & mesh chromed separately& they can then be soldered back together using lead solder & an “aggressive “ flux.
Anybody done anything similar & can offer any hints (i.e on the agressive flux) for a successful outcome.

Remove the chrome plate from the areas to be soldered. Solder doesn't take at all well to chrome.

Done the chrome bars on Morgan grills used plumbers flux cleaned with 180 Wet & dry first,, Big iron you want to be quick or it can show on the outer shell. Here is the car on Brooklands test hill, Strait eight splash lubrication so smooth & the torque
Long time ago did the mesh on a Railton used really aggressive flux, don't forget to clean well after

Not quite what I was hoping to hear(but thanks anyway) The mesh is only 1cm squares (approx) & whilst removing chrome od the inside of the shell shouldn't prove to onerous, the mesh I fear is going to prove very fiddly.

Try a grit gun Ron with something aggressive you are only doing say every third wire Never thought of it when I was doing it as you say inside of cowl is easy

I wonder if there is something I could apply to the areas i don’t chrome on (to make soldering easier) before it goes in the chroming bath?

The plating shop should be able to advise, but laquer could be used to mask areas off and stop them from being plated. Wax or tape could also be used, but check with the platers first.
