I just sold my lathe today, as my plan is to do the grey nomad thing with my wife in about 2 years, sell the house, buy a caravan and travel around Australia in it for a couple of years, I have had to come to the realization that all my toys are not going to fit in the caravan. So selling them off one by one, so today was the lathes turn to go. (Had to blot out the guys face as I forgot to tell him about the pic).
Bit of a effort to get to the front of the shed from 8m back, but with some home made skates a few pry bars and some blocks of wood we managed, then after we found the balance point in the lathe it was fairly easy going lifting it onto the truck bed.
So sniff, sniff
, I will miss it, at least with my health issues I can be a bit happier in that if something should happen to me, my missus will not be burdened with the problem of getting rid of it. We had that discussion many times and when I told her how much I sold it for, she was very happy and said, well that's great 'cause if you weren't around I probably would have sold it for $100.
And no, in case anyone is wondering, that is not the price that I told her I bought it for. She knows the true price (this time).
Now the boat, 2 more wood lathes and the heavy 25mm welding bench to go, the welders I will put in storage and when the time comes to buy/build another house, hopefully we will get 3 phase put in!
