Solarflux type-B

morning chaps,

Quick question, i have an application coming up where it wont be really possible to back purge a stainless job, anyone any idea where i can get solarflux type-B (or is there something else that does the same job??) outside the US, ie UK/europe? To get it sent from the U.S is nearly costing as much as the thing itself!

Pretty much any decent welding supplier should stock it or at least be able to get it in easily as Weldability/SIF list it. Google it and then restrict the search to UK sites only. That said there won't be much in it/may be cheaper to get it from the States anyway as it's typically £60 + in the UK. Personally i hate the stuff, leaves a hard tenacious residue and i typically find it less hassle to figure out a way of purging or using heat sinks. Obviously without details of the job/joint set up we're shooting in the dark for alternatives... backing tape is another way for example but no good unless there's access to remove it after welding. Not cheap either so i generally prefer purge fixtures or 'tenting' off the back of the joint

its for an odd project where il be welding 50mm x 1.5 stainless tube, but its not a full tube, its about 8/10 of a tube if you get me, there's about a 5mm slot cut all the way along the tube, so back purging is not really viable, plus argon is very expensive here, its just always handy to have some around.

anyway i found some in the uk that do it for 35quid for a full tin, work it to have it in the shop !
