So whos been welding in this heat?

Just come in from the approx 30 degree heat in the garage after about a 4 hour stint of ali welding pumping out up to around 180amps with a boilersuit on!

Anyone else foolish enough to make themselves even hotter?

Not welding but had some 20mm plate to gas through today

All day....overhead welding mostly, overalls, boots, leather jacket, hood, gloves, welding screen and air pack.

Hot doesn't even come close.

Got a contractor coming tomorrow to build a access platform to a 13000 gallon tank and I've been told I'm lending a hand so that's going to be a fun day but at least I'm outside

Been there as full time welder quite a while back,
funny how you get used to the constant heat though?

Fortunately, don't have to do this anymore

Worst one though, was 1" thick al/al vacuum chamber for a research company (TIG), you could feel the hair growing out your face!!

Never get the high amp stuff in during winter months.

I have two sheet metal tanks to internally weld tomorrow.

I was working on sat & sun in my probans outside all day altering a 9metre concrete mould. That was warm.

Every night after work on project's, but been in a powder coat booth and walk in ovens all day so that feels quite fresh!

At work we have moved out of canteen and moved in with the transmitter as that is air conditioned to 10oC

I get this all the time.
Today about two and half hours welding then the same outside grinding in the sun, then three hours in a van delivering stuff.
Oh such fun.

750kw does microwave pies very well.

All the door have castel keys and In days gone by when there was only 1 hr maintenance stop it was a common trick to stick someone's bait box in transmitter then stick back on service

long story short. me being a carpenter by trade, ex welder of sorts (hobby welder now)

started a welding job three days a week, days and hours as i please, suits me down to the ground as works short at the min!

anyway the lads that work there full time start at 0600, tea break at 0930 no dinner tea break at 1500 finish at 1700. take my hat off to those lads.

the last three days ive managed 6hrs a day as the heat is killing me!!!
