as the title says, my downstairs neighbour popped round the other day, and had somehow found out i am an apprentice engineer. upon hearing this news, he had a proposition for me. if i get his car running, he would give me his tool box and its contents. as he is a nice bloke, i told him id do it without seeing the box or tools first. i got his car going quite quickly as it was just a case of new plugs and ht leads, and some new oil and a new posi lead on the battery terminals
now i have the tool box and its contents. quite a few brand new, still in the box sockets, ranging from 12mm to 34mm, a few old spanners, a stilsons and a few g clamps. quite happy to be honest.
the problem is, the box is on its last legs. the lock doesnt work, the lid is bent and doesnt shut, and the drawers that are still intact, dont open or close properly
plus the fact i have just bought a new box that is more than big enough for my tools
so, the question is, what do i do with the box. the steel is no thicker than 2mm, possibly only 1.5mm. the paint comes off easy, and it goes back to shiny with a flap disc
do i chop it up and make something, or just weigh it in?
or does anyone on here that is close enough to pick it up want it?
answers on a postcard please
