just put a complete new torch on cos i didnt want to faff around with old one and the gas continuasly comes out ! when i press the trigger it stops ????

These use the trigger to control the gas with a valve in the torch. a spring pushed up the center of the valve sealing an o ring. when pressed it opens the valve and gas escapes via the swan neck.
Did you get the correct torch? If so it sounds like its faulty

I had the same with a torch of this design, slacken the swam neck and undo it one turn and pinch the lock nut back up, dont know if it will cure yours but it fixed mine
