Snap on spanners do they varie this much??

About 6 months ago I lost my 13mm standard snap on spanner and because I don't have a local snap on man I never got a new one. I ordered a used one that was cheap on eBay which turned up today. Good condition. As described but I noticed the back of it is a lot wider and broader than any of my others even the 17,18,19 are not as broad as this 13.
Is it an era thing, ie the older ones are thicker etc. my set are between 3-4 years old but this could be 10 years old I ain't sure. 13 on left is a lot thicker than 15 on right. Is this normal. Or is something wrong. Could I of bought a fake. Looks and feels right mind.

they make different series of tools,

its a bit like owning a mk 1 escort, and looking at a mk 5, nothing like it.

like anything else years ago everything over engineered for the job. now a lot lighter but will do the same job

the newer ones "cut in" to your hand better
giving more pain

It is now a good fit on 13 mill

Mine are Very well used but only 3-4 years Old as I bought the set a couple at a time over a year. From 10mm to 30mm. I was gutted I lost my 13 but this is a nice replacement. Other than these I've not owned snap on spanners Before so I wasn't aware the older ones with the same logo were thicker across the back. So I was a bit sceptical as to what I had bought. You tool experts have cleared it up now cheers.

Mine are mostly 2011 then this one is only a couple years older mind but cheers that's usefull to know.

Just looked at some of mine , varying ages and guess what varying thicknesses too , can't say I'd noticed before tho!

Perhaps the price of steel was low in those particular years
