Smoke pouring out my dishwasher

could have done without this, the main spray bar pump motor has burned out, Everyone is asking stupid money for such a small motor, I just wondered if anyone on here might have one or know of somewhere that is reasonably priced to get one. It's the Indesit DG6145WG part number C00088121

Motor

A compatable motor used by several manufacturers in various models, still £90+,£72.35 on Ebay, looking at the motor, you`d wonder why any old motor would not recirculate/pump out the waste?
Scrap men, and delivery companies working for the likes of Currys- Knowhow.com. They take away old appliances for recycling.

try ebay when our dishwasher packed up got another of there for 99p as spares or repairs that had diff fault.

First thing I did mate and the cheapest on there for mine is around £98

Hi Doc, hmmm it's not quite as simple as that as the pump has two outputs and the way it mounts in a confined space under the tub is strange, it actually hangs on it's three rubber hoses which are about 2" long and then has a sort of big coil spring attached to the back of the motor.

Its to stop the thumping noise from the pump being transmitted into the body and hence cuts down on noise. Good design really.

As for where all the old gear goes, I used to work for someone once upon a time that collected old whitegoods "for disposal" from big box stores and local councils tip's etc. We checked and cleaned and then put the best working ones in the showroom, the next best ones we repaired then put in the showroom and the ones that were too tatty but worked or couldnt be got working easily (ie were more than just a switch or thermostat broke) we loaded into a container bound for Africa where they degassed them outside the EU legislation requirements and repaired them and sold them on. The very very worst we degassed or stripped for spares (washing machine drums and spiders mostly) and sent the remains in for scrap. If you have a place selling "nearly new" appliances they probably do the same business model, and will have a technician in the back doing what I did who if theyve had one of your dishwasher may have it to hand or know a good substitute. The sales staff will want to keep you away from him and sell you a new one instead mind
