Smart thermostat

Hi, my Drayton programmable wireless stat is about goosed.
It runs a baxi 105e. It is battery powered at the stat end and mains powered at the receiver end.
I was looking at some cheap Alexa and app compatible WiFi ones.
It would appear that I need to get power to the stat/timer which won't be a problem. Then run a 2 core from the stat to the boiler, more of a problem but doable. I assume just wiring to the same point the Drayton receiver wires go to on the boiler.
Any thoughts.

I don't know about other makes but my Nest thermostats have a square white box which connects to the boiler. You need power to these and a connection to the boiler (ie the 2 cores as mentioned to call for heat from the boiler). In ours these live on top of the kitchen cupboards tucked out of the way - our boiler is in the garage the other side of the wall so that was the easiest place to locate them (I had initially tried them in the garage itself but the wall between house and garage has foil back insulation and meant the wireless signal to the boxes wasn't very good.)

The thermostats themselves have a wireless connection to the white control boxes, these are in the living room and kitchen and are simply plugged into a socket.

Thanks for info. The avatto ones I was looking at seem to be linked directly to the boiler via two wires from the stat/timer making and breaking the circuit.

Ah OK - I guess that makes it a bit more awkward as the stat might be some way from the boiler?

Yeah, stat downstairs, boiler upstairs but more or less directly above.
