smaller wire reel

so i got the snap on 130, stripped it, cleaned it, replaced the tip and installed some flux core wire. the reel seems to stick out a bit further than the larger one due to it not having a hole in the back of it. will this cause any probs further down the line with wire feed. it feeds ok at the moment. also the nozzle was a bit tatty so i just binned it cos im not using gas, this shouldn't cause any issues should it?

what do you mean there isn't a hole in the back of it? the hole in the centre of the reel should go all the way through. if it feed ok though it should be fine.

a shroud is pointless on a gasless mig, but if you do plan on using it with gas at some point you will want to protect the area that the shroud mounts on, either a screw or a spring on most torches. I used to cut the shroud down so the spring was protected, but now I just leave it on if im doing gasless, it wont do any harm on there whatever condition it is in

without a pic its hard to describe but the large spool that was on it had a hole of about 50mm to accommodate the bottom of the (for lack of a better word) spool holder. this then in turn has the smaller end that takes the spring and clip. the small spool has no large hole so it stops about 20mm short from the bottom of the spool holder.

oh right, so basically the spindle it sits on is stepped to accommodate different sized reels?

if this is the case then all will be fine as it is designed to work like that
