The photo below is a percussion weld of a .046 inch diameter tungsten pin attached to a.092 inch diameter nickle pin. As you can see, the nickle has flowed to form a nice fillet around the tungsten. The joint is strong in that the tungsten pin will break before coming out of the weld.
