Small Victories!

Went to use my inverter the other day to find it wouldn't turn on

After a quick search around I found one of the main cables had broken

The next problem where to find said cable & battery terminals in Spain...

Went to a couple of motor factors with little success, But one of them suggested a electrical shop

Visited said electrical shop & with basic Spanish I got the cable & terminals I needed

Next problem, How do I crimp battery terminals without the proper tools for the job. Solution Hammer & a rock job sorted!

My inverter is now working & feeling quite happy that I've got by in a country which isn't my own

You have to take the little victories. And not just because the big ones are a bit thin on the ground..

Nice one ash, as I was reading the part about crimping I thought a hammer and a hard surface like a road

Whenever I have travelled with tools if I have not had my whole workshop in the van then you always find scenarios where you need just that one tool that you didn't bring.

So 2 choices , buy cheap naff one time use tools or make do

I think the biggest victim is me forgetting what tools I have available to help me do a job sometimes & not using them

Halfords tool kit
Ball bein hammer
Claw hammer(can be used as a splitter)
Pry bar
Long 1/2” breaker for wheel changes
27mm socket
52mm socket
Large pipe grips
Air pump
Lots of ratchet straps
Solid tow bar
Puncture repair kit(now carry one for my bike!)
Mobile phone charger with spare battery 12/240v both
AA card
2ltrs of water
1lt

never needed anything else as we split spares between us

i took 2 artic loads of tools n machines to a foriegn land.....
mind i'm never comming back.....
this last stint was 17 years and don't miss the place apart from tool shopping.....hahaha
before that just traveled n worked.....
no roots anymore....cant say I miss brown source anymore.....sad....
