That is brilliant work. Definitely going to be a next project for me. So useful. Quick and cheap to knock one up but I bet it's not as easy as it looks.
Thanks for posting and giving me the inspiration. I will build a 4 foot version though.

Get rid of the table underneath, and put magnets in each corner.....carry it to the yard and stick it to the plate.....

Having played around with my used little cnc mill it doesn't appear as bad as I first thought.

Just my two cents worth. Automatic torch height control may not be necessary, though is an advantage even on a small table. Also the ability to control the torch height for piercing. Piercing at a greater clearance and then coming down to the cut height saved the consumables. Can it be done without these features, absolutely. I just incorporated these features into mine so if and when plasma work load increased I would be ready and hopefully the machine would run with less dramas and I would not have to watch it like a hawk. Now can't really complain it goes OK!

There's a bloke on youtube who has adapted a cheapish engraving machine. Results aren't fantastic but it works in a fashion. Looks like a cheap introduction and might give you the confidence to go on to make your own. You will still have a laser engraver at the end of it too.

Have one, just prefer not to use it. Also, I don't think it would like being outside all the time.
