Small mill machine- bit shagged

Hi
Do you know someone who does servicing and repair of these things?
Could do with taking it to be looked over trammed the y lead screw and nut have had it and a few other things.
I think its as well to do this up rather than go out and buy a new one, even if this is very primative

My advice to beginners (I’m certainly no expert, either) with their first machine is, tidy it up a bit, lube and just USE it. There are some good YT vids on the basics - eg, Doubleboost and Blondihacks, who both cover tramming.

You don’t want to be getting bogged down in a complex stripdown first off. That can come later, and gradually, as you get more confident.

Oh, and you’ll need a lathe. It’s usually lathe before mill.

Just study videos on Youtube - loads of material out there.
Clean and lube everything.
Tighten up the gibs.
Learn to work with backlash.
I soon discovered that an experienced user with a knackered old lathe or milling machine gets far better results than a beginner with a brand new machine

Strip it down , that way you will learn how the mill works , then set it up . That's what I did with my old Centec2 , take photos of the tear down so it'll be easier for rebuilding.

Sounds like some of the advice on the Yamaha xj forum - "you must toally strip every component of your carbs to get it running right ..." No mention that this needs real attention to detail, organisation, some skill, cost, experience and a lot of time.
If you have to ask a forum for help I would suggest you are lacking in at least one or more of these, so maybe a full stripdown should come later?

If it's in usable condition as-is, do as others suggest & just a general clean & lube. Strip downs usually end up with a pile of parts & a long project. Better to just have a usable machine.

And I guess one of the first things to do after it has been moved? (Eg taken away services and returned which seemed to be what the OP wanted?

Realistically anybody doing professional repair work on milling machines is going to charge several times what the machine is worth.
So I’d imagine it is going to be a case of either, make do as it is, repair it yourself, or flog it on and buy a new one.
