Small machining job for someone

Afternoon chaps

I have a small amount of machining I need doing. Well, actually, I need a price first, because if it silly money I'll do it on the lathe. I have asked a couple of other people on pther forums, but not had any replies yet

Basically, I need a rebate milling into 2No. lengths of Aluminium.

I could do it by hand, or on my lathe, but I can't be bothered spending hours cutting and filing and don't want to wreck the lathe.
Plus, I don't have the material to hand.

Beer tokens waiting. I understand that ally can be pricey, and obviously am more than willing to pay for your time. Can pay you through paypal, pop a cheque/cash in the post, whatever.
I would also need them posting back to me, so factor in a bit for postage

Drawing is attached. PM me if you can do it with an idea of cost.

There is no major rush on them, but if I could have them for next weekend (5th & 6th DEC) it would be nice

PS The actual grade stated just seems to be the most common. I have used it for a similar purpose in the past and it was more than adequate. If you happen to have something else to hand that is as strong, then that is acceptable. It will not be treated or anodised (if that makes any difference)

I can do them for you no problem at all. The tooling we use these days rips materials like ali to pieces in no time at all. The materials you have selected is right for that sort of job, Its the most common available which machines well and available in many section types.

The only thing i cant define is the sizes, I have saved the pic and zoomed in but still cant clearly see the sizes. If you would like to send me those i will get you a price. Plus you are welcome as anyone is to come and visit my works if you are in the Kent area.

Someone on another forum has said they will do it, but he 'might' change his mind, as it is for brakes, and he only does it as a hobby (liability/responsibility type thing)

If he can't do it, I will PM you to get your email, then send the PDF as an attachment

Hi Sean,

In real terms he has no liability what so ever. He would be making them to the design supplied. He has not designed it so any fault there stays with the person that designed it, providing his work is up to scratch.( You cant really go wrong with something like that) He will only have liability for his own workmanship if found at fault. Even so the bottom line is beer tokens job no come back no proof no nothing.

All i can say on that is if he is not comfortable doing it due to the application, you have to question if you will be comfortable with someone doing it that isn't confident in what they are doing (I mean that with disrespect to the guy but ya cant buy experience)

If you want to pm me with the exact application i should be able to tell you whats safe with ali and what isn't. I have done many years in motorcycle engineering and currently do such work for kit cars dealing with such parts.

Thank you guys. Your Comments are very much appreciated. I don't really look at it like that, Its just what i do and what i was probably put on this earth to do.

What i love about this forum and the guys here is there is such an array of knowledge here which is hard to find on the best of forums. I really don't think its surpassed by any i have found. That's a big commendation to Malc and the crew.

Its so nice to have people you can actually relate to properly, Its like the guys i trained with or worked with in engineering when they realised what they were in for they moved out of the sector or they have now sadly passed away being the older generation. With all the skills dying with them. Its so desperately sad. As such i personally have no one who understands my work or what i do. In some ways it makes it a lonely old world out there at times.

So your comments are really appreciated.
