Slip Roller

Just wondering if I can get some advice on slip rollers.

I have seen loads on ebay from 12"-16" and costing aroung £100-140.

Are these any good, I carnt seem to find anyone else who sells them, not even Machine Mart.

Its for rolling metal cones under 1mm thick, diameter around 35mm - 120mm. Eather mild or stainless, mild upto 1mm, stainless upto 0.8mm.

I think they're way too specialised a product for Machine Mart to stock. Fournier Enterprises do 24" ones, FROST do 100" ones. The Fournier ones are in your price range -- and are likely to be very high quality -- but shipping from the States will not be cheap. Maybe they have a European agent?

Can't comment on the other ones as I've not seen them.

I have a Chester set like the ones Wyn linked to. One of the gears cracked down the keyway fairly shortly after getting mine and I've not, as yet, been able to find a replacement. I doubt they all do this so I was probably unlucky but I'd still be a bit wary of Chester kit now.

Actually I emailed Chester today (again) and got a reply..... Just need to measure the rolls as I can't remember which size I got and tell them which gear it is and apparently a spare should be available.

I hadn't tried them but looks like a good site for future reference. Cheers, Hitch. Can't see gears on their site though.

I think your right, im ust have been confusing them with someone else then, seems they do sprockets, pulleys etc, which is usefull.

I can make you a replacement gear cheap, but i am in the US and i would need you broken one for a pattern. Shipping should not be much 3 or 4 bucks US to ship it here...Bob

I wont be making mine but the chester 16" rollers seem to fit the bill at about the right price. Better than taking a chance on ebay.
