Slim mask for tight spots

I’m going to splash out and buy myself a good mask. I don’t need air fed as I have one supplied at work. We also use decent INE masks at work but I want something smaller for working at home.

I do a little work at home, mostly fixing cars, mot repairs and the likes. I’m not as agile as I once was so I’d like a good mask to help squeeze and roll in and out underneath stuff as I’ve no lift.

I don’t have a set budget but I do need to be realistic.
Any ideas considered

For me the older model speedglas 9000 range was an excellent mask, nice and flexible, obviously superseded now and the new one in my opinion is no where as good in tight spots.

Fixed 11 shade this one, the filter could be replaced if desired giving a range from 9-13.

it might be a decent helmet but i doubt its slim in any sense of the word. and front cover plates are horribly expensive $12usd and only sold in 2pk

Love my Optrel Weldcap for tight spaces as it is the filter lens in a cloth mask attached to hat. Mine was free and I thought it was a gimmick before knew Optrel was a proper make and good quality. Not sure if I could justify the price.

I got one of these from Rapid Welding for nasty tight car jobs.

Don't often use it - but it the best I found so far (had tan coloured non auto Monkey mask thing before)

Mostly on cars I use a Speedglas helmet with a bib and a long hood protector on it.



That was when it was new - it don't look like that now...



I always fit "bibs" on any welding helmet I have - I have had so many burns not using them over the years welding under cars - with auto lids they not a problem - but nodding down a fixed lense helmet with a leather bib - is a non starter

I use this when I'm under a car and find it quite comfortable (within reason, still under a car )

Certainly gone up in price!

As mentioned above, the optrel weldcap is great for tight spaces. It's also very light and being soft, it doesn't fall off your head if you bash it against something.

Miller also do one, even more compact,
I've got a unused Miller or a used optrel either of which could be for sale..

Thanks for all the replies. I went with the esab a60. I got a good price through work as they have an account with a supplier. Literally only pulled it out of the box to see what was in it so I’ll get a proper look tonight.
