Slight imperfection in gate?

Hi all,

I am in the process of making a sliding gate. I'm the type of guy who measures 10 times before cutting cutting or tacking. I'm Very fussy and always looking for perfection.

The gate is 5000mm long with 4 40x40 box sections mounted upright on 40x80 box. My problem is the floor where I am working isn't the best. I have the gate is good as I can get it. When I put a plumb line across the upright bars there one of the bars is about 2-3mm out. It's not really visible except with line.

Am I being way to fussy???

Forget it, but next time build off a known good base - you can set up packers on the floor which are level, and build on them.

That's more or less what I done, and used a bubble and plumb line a lot. Might have to get some self levelling compound for the shed shed so!!

This is my first gate and it's for my house. I'm just annoyed that it's out. I shouldn't think it will make much difference on a 5m length

The gate is square just one of the internal uprights is a couple of mm out ? Yes you are being fussy but if it's really bothering you you will have to cut it out and redo it, or is it not bothering you that much ?

I was thinking of cutting out. I might take the gate out and stand back and have a look down the line if it. If its not really visible I'll leave it..

It'll be alright, you'll have a job to notice a couple of mm when they are that far apart.

if you cant notice it from, say 10 foot away, you dont need to change it, you know its there, and you will always look for it, but people that dont know its there wont notice and will compliment your gate
