Sleeve for 12mm solid mild steel round

Hi guys, is there a perfect sleeve material can be got for 12mm solid round. At the moment im using hydrolic tube 11mm inner and 15mm outer and i drill it out 12.5mm on the bench drill but its a pain. a Lathe would be i deal but dont have access so was woundering if you know of anything. has to be snug as 13mm is nearly too big with too much play.

id also go with 1/2" pipe, at 12.7mm nominal bore it will be a decent fit if your 12mm solid bar is an accurate and consitent 12mm

edit* what is the function of the 12mm bar in relation tot he sleeve? if there is any rotation or lateral movement of the bar then there could be a wear issue with a bog standard bit of steel tube

Thanks I will see if suppliers have it tomorrow. It's been used for weather vanes where the arrow pivots.

Ah there shouldn't be a massive amount of wear then. When I have done weather vanes in the past I get a bit of rod to weld to the bracket, then a ball bearing of the same diameter, plenty of grease on it and the. A bit of capped off pipe to sit on top with the arrow welded to that. Spins freely even in the slightest breeze.

That reminds me, I need to make myself a weather vane ready for when I move

If you have the sleeve long enough a bit of play won't show anyway

Thanks lads, 1/2" pipe is not available here in ireland from my local stockists. Ive contacted a shop with a lathe and am getting the pipe i have drilled by them.

No-one stocks BSP pipe over there?

No no-one. nearest thing was 14mm semibright pipe. drilling with lathe done the job.
