Slag

When arc welding I seem to have no slag just black on top of weld ,I'm using these rods at 110 amps ,what am I doing wrong

picture of the welds would be helpful...i would assume the 'black' on top of the weld is the slag but without seeing it, hard to say

The amount of slag varies quite a bit with different rods, a picture will help definetly.

I found running a rod on the hot side will leave little slag to be chipped off, I assume it turns to splatter or perhaps some stays in the weld?
Running cold there is more slag to chip.
110a doesnt sound hot for a 3.2mm, but each machine is a bit different. Hotness also depends what thickness you are welding.

110A it's cold for me
I run
2.5mm rods at 85 to 95A
3.2mm rods between 115 to 135A
