Every shooter in the UK will be affected, whether they like it or not, it will be trundled out at every opportunity as @Tinbasherdan says, by the antis, the Home Office and the Police whenever it suits. We were discussing this at the club last night and someone remarked just how little we have heard about the Plymouth shootings and the reason is simple, the incident was a result of Police failings. I am not a tinfoil hat wearer by the wildest stretch of the imagination but Police Failings do not suit the narrative so the Party Political News service is keeping quiet.

The News services DO do as the political masters say, whether you accept this or not. Have you never wondered: Suicide is the biggest killer of males under the age of forty, yet it is hardly ever reported. Why? There is a Government blanket ban on the reporting of suicide and that is a fact. So the news outlets do toe the party line, those in this country at least.

I think your right. That news article is very vague, but doubt well get a more detailed version highlighting the “triggers” that caused the gun to be removed from a cabinet in the first place. Tragic for all involved.

Look up Werther effect, that is why the UK media does not report suicides. Similar voluntary codes are in place in various countries.

You are quite right of course I wasn't trying to justify or denigrate the policy in any way just that it exists. and you have confirmed this.

"Independent" as in Independent Press Standards is of course subjective.

Lol. Really? You say this after the bushy haired blonde one has just been hounded out of office by them? So who were they obeying - oh of course the reds - but these are mot "in power" - or ar they?
And as far as police failings go, north yorks police as well as the met have caught a whole lot of bad publicity recently (quite rightly imho). So I don't totally agree, not that that makes any difference..
I won't argue about the ban on suicides though - you may be right.
