Sky TV in another room.

Been thinking about putting a tv in the bedroom, simple

Well been playing the old way running an LCD tv through the coaxial cable ( old method for doing this ) and to be honest the picture quality is rubbish putting a strain on the eyes.

I have in the past used those RF transmitters and found them rubbish because of wi-fi in the house and not sure if they will give a good picture output with modern LCD tv's.

Is there another way of doing it retaining picture quality and without the CRAZY cost of sky for multiroom?

i used coax from the skybox to the upstairs tv with no picture issues you can also buy a small gadget that allows you to use the remote upstairs through the coax

The picture loss is only on a modern LCD tv, on an old CRT tv the picture was quite good last time I done it. Got a decent coaxial & magic eye here now.

When I put in a nice tv down the in'laws running it of a scart lead was still not that great, from a HDMI cable it was night and day difference.

you can get a pair of litle black boxes that can transmit HDMI over cat 5 or cat 6 cable so you could have 1080p quality in any room.

We have Multirooms in our house cos the kids like to watch their own thing, However by just using coax, you will only be able to view the same program as whats on the TV downstairs, If thats ok, then Coax should be OK, The one i did years ago i used a signal amplifier and Bought the ready made coax cable as opposed to making your own with connectors (The picture really is as good as the conntections)

you might want to change the rf output channel on the sky box. you could be picking up interference from something else
i was a sky engineer for a few years so if you would like someone local to have a look at your setup let me know

Cheers guys, I may just put it on the back burner for a short while as I am thinking of going multi'room. It is something I have noticed with HD LCD tv's though running through a coaxial cable, cable I have is a nice expensive one I bought years ago when I used to run into another room.
