Must have seemed like a good idea at the time.

Things are very strange now with modern engines with no undersize bearing shells available so such work has become specialist only with the ability to line bore and modify the block for normal split shells"we didn't know how or know anyone who could operate it correctly"

I loved going into Tom Mackean's shop in dumfries back when I used to play with engines, he had 3 crank grinders all in lovely condition, looked after well and each one in daily use. A real gentleman, too.
It should really be made from Sg iron which is the tensile of normal mild steel. These are not so only suited to slow rev engines...and the braveAm amazed by that as I thought only a forging could resist the twisting and be stiff enough.
