wasn't sure where to put this , so if it's in the wrong place could it be moved.
Ive got a job coming up with a large amount of site welding required on it.
I wasn't down for the site welding, but they are pushing me to confirm a price and schedule with them for doing it. I'm interested on your thoughts as to how long it would take.
The set up will be as follows.
Steel structures bolted together with 6mm plate on the outside which will need to be fully welded. The plates will butt up together and will join across the back of a channel section.
The welder would have to lie on his back to do the job, with the steel approx 800 mm from the floor. In total it will be around 240 metres of welding the 6mm plates.
Now assuming that power won't be an issue, and if needed a tent type structure could be set up round the working area to allow you to mig weld with gas, how many metres would a good welder be able to do in a day in these conditions ?
I am assuming mig would be the go to system, if you think stick would be better ( or even flux core mig welding ? ), how would that affect the welding time.
Cheers in advance
