My wire feed on my sip 145 used to sound like it was shifting up and down gear and my welds looked poor.
Got sick and tired today and took it all apart today and increased the size of the hole that the drive shaft came through (1-2mm).
It has now stopped its party trick and feed's much better, i also had to turn the trim almost totally clockwize to slow it down enough to weld.
Notes.
- You will notice when you open the wire feed up there will be black dust on the top gear this is from the square section rubbing on the hole, i cleaned it all out and used some silicon based grease sparingly
- Also on the bottom of each cog in the groove there is a nobble from the injection mold, i removed those with a stanley as they seam to contribute to some noise
- Dont tighten the cover up mega tight, women tight is preferable
- Use a 9v battery to test the modifications on a regular basis so you know when you have removed enough material.
Will try and post a picture tommorow to carify better.
