SIP Weldmate T100P gasless mig

Hi

I recently bought a SIP Weldmate T100P gasless mig second hand.

I opened up the unit to check what kind of wire the previous own was using and noticed the spool had unraveled under its own spring tension so that several of the turns sat away from the others. There does not appear to be any spring tension system to act as a brake on the spool feed.

Any suggestions on a diy spring tensioner that my get me out of trouble?

The reel should sit on a stud there is a stepped down area that a short and quite stiff spring sat on it bore down on a washer which seated on the reel or the carriers for the bigger reels and was held in by a knurled screw

If i remember right when fitted according to the sticker in the case the ends of the spring bit in and undid the screw.

put a couple of greased washers or a nylon washer under a steel one next to the reel and find a spring about 10-15mm
