Hi everyone, just joined the site and i am fairly new to MIG welding. I've just bought myself a Sip TopMig Turbo 150 on eBay. I haven't picked the welder up yet but i can see on the pictures that the power connector is a 240v (blue and white) round 3 pin plug. I believe these plugs have a 16amp fuse, will i be OK to change this plug to a standard 3 pin plug with a 13amp fuse. Also the welder comes with a regulator to connect to a mini gas bottle, just wondered if i will need a flow meter to set my gas pressure accurately. Finally does anyone have any experiences of this welder. All comments would be appreciated, Thanks Adam.

Those blue plugs are unfused, they rely on the consumer unit for protection.
You could try a 13A plug, but it may blow the fuse on the higher current ranges.
A simple flowmeter would help, if the reg doesn't have one a pea-shooter type would do the trick.
A good read through the SIP section would be worthwhile.

I don't think there's any more technical advice to give. 
If it blows the fuse then you'll need a dedicated supply, if it doesn't....happy days!
Let us know how you get on with the SIP, they don't have the best reputation on here but with a bit of fettling they can be made to work ok.

Most of us on here run 150 amp welders from ordinary fused 13 amp plugs. The SIP will work fine that way, but it's sensible to make sure the plug is of good quality and to replace it every couple of years. The welder should work without blowing fuses, but anywhere near 13 amps is (oddly) a bit much for a 13 amp plug.

My SIP/Cosmo 170 (actually 150 max) pops the 13 amp fuse on max setting (6/6) but anything under is fine
I'm using another welder that's 185 max on a 13amp plug but I'll probably never reach the top setting welding a rusty mini!
