anyone any experience with sip inverters i ordered this one after my parweld let me down after 2 years of use and abuse, i was told it calved, from running 30 foot output leads, apparently the output leads is meant to stay under 10 feet, can anyone confirm this?

I've got a SIP inverter, it's probably 5 years old and it's done a fair amount. SIP were no help when it went wrong out of guarantee, which I suppose is a fairly common story. This was made in Italy. However, SIP buy, badge and sell and I get the impression their current range is Chinese.

I've heard of inverters having problems with long mains leads but not long output leads. I 'd have thought that if using welding leads over 10 feet was likely to kill the welder, they'd tell you not to do it in the handbook. The sellers probably have enough problems with warranty returns already, without causing more by not warning about things likely to kill the welder.

im nt sure ptvor to be honest, all i know is parweld broke my heart the last 6 months

I wouldn't just give up on the Parweld. Have you tried looking it over for loose connections and obviously burnt bits? Have you given it a good dusting out?

You're a mechanical engineer, don't you know any electronic engineers who could give it a once over? It might be something simple and cheap like the precharge relay, or output diodes, or a dry solder joint.

I didn't buy my SIP inverter new. I think it was made by DECA and bought in. It's been OK for me and died before I had it because of abuse. That said, on my experience of trying to get help from SIP and the general reputation they have on here, they wouldn't be my first port of call if it died and couldn't be fixed. I think I'd go for a make with a better idea of repair and backup.

Anyway, you've bought the SIP and I hope it will be OK.

Have you got to use long leads? I find 10ft is fine.

ive looked at it inside out upside down and can see nothing, a friend bought parweld aswell, and hes not impressed with it either, hopefully the sip will be as nice as my oilcooled to use.
