Sip motor brake

Hi, do sip Machines have a motor brake? I got my hands on a number of hobby welders. 3 of them are sip. 2 old top loading mig mate 100 and a dual purpose mig mate 130. One of the 100 has no wire feed. The others do but not motor brake so get lots of run on, is this normal is not is there a conman fault I should look for

You could incorporate a relay that short circuits the motor when you release the trigger.

The mig mate 100 are worse set wire feed half way and its a few seconds after releasing the trigger till it stops. Migmate 130 is better but still about a second. This is not in use, just on a bench in bits testing. must be horrible to use, will add a relay. Have a video but photobucket now letting Me upload it

There are loads of mods to make the wire feed smoother on some SIPs, if someone has wired a capacitor across the motor it will cause the motor to run on when the trigger is released.

Sorry guys I have had a blonde moment here. These machines are on the bench in bits and I'm testing them, I have the power on max and the wire speed in a range that you would never use and getting loads of run on, put the wire feed to a more sensible range and it's not to bad. Compair it to another brand hobby machine I have with me which welds fine and the same amount of run on.

with these littel migs some need loads of work to the wire feed to make them managable, feeding power tothe motor through a dioed then putting a capaitor across the motor sommths out the wire feed a bit but as siad you get run on, so then you need a relay to short the motor & capaitor out to stop the wire feed.

a better way is build a separate power supply for the wire feed
