Hello everyone, ive been reading these forums for a while now and thought id best sign up to ask a few questions i have.
Firstly im very new to mig welding, with probably less than 24 hours worth of experience.
Anyway, my welder is an old sip migmate turbo 130, yes i know its pretty old but i wanted to try out if i could actual weld and it was cheap.
Now, i have got a problem which i cant seem to figure out, when i try to weld exhaust pipe, or car body panels, the welder just blows holes right through it, even moving silly fast with the gun and on the lowest settings i can get it to.
Its set to the lowest settings with 0.6mm wire.
Can wire speed have an effect on how "powerful" the welder is? i ask this because the wire speed nob doesn't work very good, and it really does push the wire out rather fast. Can wire speed set to low cause problems also?
Also if any one has experience with one of these welders, any tips to turning the power down so i can at least weld exhaust pipes etc would be awesome.
if its down to the welder being to old, well, i can always practice on some thicker stuff, and buy a modern unit in the future.
Thanks.
