I have an SIP Migmate Super that I bought new in 1988. I last used it in 2012 and whilst I got the job done, my welding was not as neat as I would have liked.
I aim to get some practice in and raise my game. I read with interest the wire feed challenges and talk of plastic and metal sleeves and other mods. I also need a decent mask, so some questions.
What is a good value helmet with auto darkening visor - doesn't have to be the cheapest, good value for money for an occasional user.
Is my SIP of 88 Vintage a 'Pre cost cutting' or 'post cost cutting' model with wire feed issues. Is it worth me persevering with this.
What is the best large bottle gas to go for, I don't want to mess with those small bottles.
I am confident with my knowledge and experience and advice on here to improve my skills but I want to sort my kit out first so that I am not trying to overcome equipment obstacles. My primary use with be car body repair such as a rear lower panel on my transit rear doors etc.
