Ive got access to a SIP Industrial Weldmate Ic300W welder. I want to use it to do some repairs on floorpans, boot floors and sills of a classic mgb.
So, ive bought some 1mm sheet metal to practice on.
However, i just cannot get the thing to give me a decent weld (im a complete beginner though and havent used another welder before).
Ive read the forum and the tips, but cant get it right so i thought id ask if anyone has any suggestions of settings etc regarding this particular welder?
Im using 1mm wire (i think this is too thick and will get some 0.6 or 0.8 with tips for the torch eventually).
Does anyone know what i should be using for the
a) Coarse (1or 2) and Fine (1 > 7) adjustments for 1mm sheet metal with a 0.6,0.8 or 1.0 mm wire?
b) Should i have the negative plugged into the top or the bottom of the two negative plugs on the welder?
c) What is a normal wire speed for this type of work for a beginner?
d) Are there any "MUST HAVE" upgrdades that i need to do to the standard welder or torch? (i too have had the wire feed problems every now and again).
Sorry for all the questions - ive read the forums and looked for bits and pieces, but if i had answers specifically here for this welder and my situation, it would give me a lot more confidence in trying to learn with this welder as quite often i dont know if its settings, something with the welder or just my bad technique that is making things so tough.
