SIP migmate 130 problem

hi

i have an issue with the above welder, it is switching on but when i press the trigger nothing happens, ie with the wire or gas. it just makes a clicking sound.

i have tested the wire feed motor with a battery and it is working fine.

have been told it could be the pcb board?

is it possible for me to get a replacement board and if so where?

A really quick thing to try first - try switching all of the switches on the front of the machine backwards and forwards a few times. Might just be one of those open circuit. Or in poetic form:

When a SIP 130 seems broken
A switch on the front might be open
Flip them all to and fro
It could work - give it a go
It might get it back working, here's hoping.

Proberly the contactor which is on the board. It can stick in its open state a generic one can be found at maplin for a couple of Quid. As your motor is working that seems like the problem at a guess.

im a complete novice when it comes to the workings of the welder etc so il see if i can grab a few pictures of the board etc to help me locate contactor

We were having a limerick competition on another forum at the time.

It's a fairly common thing to happen - the clicky thing is the relay on the board so it sounds like that's working. There's a wire from the board that goes through the switches and on to the transformer and wire motor. Probably just an open switch, but check the connections if that doesn't work.

my 130 does that, part of the start up routine is flipping all the switches up and down a few times

the 105 is fine but then thats the one thats used most of the time

flicked all switches a few times and away she went, many thanks, phew now i can return it to the guy i borrowed it off.
