Looks like it uses semiconductors to do the switching rarther than relays. Hence will need the numbers on the devices (they are the ones with the metal tabs on back, soldered in upright.
The "GREY" wire you mentioned disconnecting, is that the wire going to pin 3 of plug 12?

I think he scaned the diagram he had but as it is a jpeg it is not the best quality

Being a tiny bit pedantic here but I'm not sure what format would make a simple black & white line drawing any clearer than it appears as a .jpeg...?

Increase the dpi - 300 should be OK. Convert (or scan) to greyscale rather than black & white for a better compromise between file size and quality.

Well it's been a few years since i worked in micro film and digital imaging but as it looked like the orignal image was poor and not just pure black and white any format would struggle. If you then add to that the compression (reduction in bits in image) that jpeg does (hence the small file size) then the image I was trying to use (that piero had posted) was hard work! I'm Sure the reason I need to use reading glasses now is due to working with poor circuit diagrams and surface mount tracks. Mind you It might also be due to age
Digital cameras use there own format and usually jpeg so they can advertise "take up to 50 shots!" ye in jpeg at lowish res.
Should have just PM'ed piero to see if he still had the ori and a scanner but it's not my welder.... I do what I do what I can to help with whats available

I keep hearing there's a big debate in certain circles over which format is best, .jpeg or .tiff or whatever... and then I hear that 99.99999% of those tested can't tell the bloody difference

Mind you, I also heard that 77.6% of statistics are made up on the spot. Or was it 81.4%...

I shoot pics for my website that end up at 4MB large; I resize them down to 33% to avoid the internet having a nervous breakdown and when I compare them back to back, even knowing which is which I struggle to see any detail that's missing. I appreciate that if you're looking for that detail at pixel level you may spot the difference, but for the vast majority of pictures taken around the world, .jpeg will do
It's a lot like MP3 vs. CD vs. analogue vinyl... even those who can tell the difference will usually shrug and opt for the convenience of MP3 [spit].

My eyes are shot as well; probably not helped by being 'bong-eyed' as a kid and having three lots of eye surgery before I started school (they took my eyeballs out and tied knots in the muscles, or some such)... years of late nights poring over circuit boards (like you, probably ) and more recently endless hours in front of PC screens... oh, then there's middle age

Paddy, any chance of another pic of the 'track side' of that board, showing the tracks near the edge - and maybe a bit less light reflection off it? I'm trying to knock up a circuit diagram of it but it's a bit unclear in places (even allowing for my eyes )...

Oh, another thing: in the component side pic, down at the bottom by the bridge rectifier (small black round thing roughly half-way across the board) there are three brown wires; I can make out where two go but the third doesn't seem to have a corresponding solder pad on the track side. It's not soldered to one of the bridge rectifier's leads is it?
