Sip hg 3000 mig welder no power

Hi

I have a problem with my sip hg3000. It will turn on but only the display gets power. It won't feed wire or arc. I have taken out the pcbs and visually inspected them but i don't see any signs of damage. Has anyone had anything similar happen them?

Hello and welcome to the Forum !

Contrary to many of their other products, this large SIP inverter MIG seems like a decent well-specified beast, so it is worth saving.
I assume neither MIG nor Arc mode work?
Apart from the PCBs and their inter-connect multi-pin plugs and harnesses, have you been able to check the power semiconductors?
There should be one or more bridge rectifiers across the mains input, and then a bunch of IGBTs, fastened to heatsinks, maybe buried in a "wind tunnel". When they fail there is often visible damage.
Is the machine still under warranty? Do you have a local supplier who can offer after-sales support?

Hi thanks for the reply. I haven't tried the bridge rectifiers or the semi conductors but I will have a look and see. The led on the first pcb will light up for 5 seconds when I first power on the machine, but then it'll turn off, I don't have alot of experience troubleshooting these machines.

It's not under warranty and I took it to a local supplier but they said I'd have to send it back to sip to be repaired and it would cost the same as a new machine. They just wanted to sell me a new one, and hadn't any interest in fixing it.

The initial LED light-up could be the soft-start circuit, which allows the large capacitors to charge slowly. This should be bypassed by a relay, which may be audible.
Inverter welders are not an easy DIY repair, and the circuit diagrams are rarely available. The power semiconductors can be expensive, and new ones may fail again due to the control and driver circuits being damaged.

hi Everyone
I'm new to the forum and thank you in advance for any help I can get. I acquired this Parweld xts162dv and at the moment it's completely dead. No lights or display working on the front panel. I wonder if anyone here has got service manual or diagram for this welder or similar please or any idea where i can buy it. I tried to google it but no joy so far. Any clues would be much appreciated. Thanks

has some general troubleshooting hints.

**Please note that the large input capacitors will hold charge, at 325v DC, even after the machine is unplugged.

If you have the correct test equipment and PPE and are confident working on live circuits, you could check the 230v AC voltage across the rectifier input, and the 325v DC output across the rectifier and capacitors.

Some companies do offer to repair inverter welders, such as Tec-Arc in York

Thanks for your reply. I have a multimeter etc for testing the circuits so I might give that ago, it looks like I've no option at the moment as any of the suppliers in my area don't want to know about it.

I'm in limerick ireland. Would anyone know of someone doing repairs in ireland? I don't mind travelling to try and get it fixed
