sip chopsaw rubbish backup

had my sip chop saw for not that long and some parts have seemed to have broke on it so thought ring up and find part numbers from sip, did this fine then asked when i could have the parts only to be told that 2 of the parts could not be with me until end April!!!! end of April???????? and the other hmmm there not sure when these parts could be with me! the reason being is because the parts are in china. does anyone else get hacked off with companies happy to sell you thing but when they brake the service is crap!.?

Same from MM. I wanted some shear blades to make a notcher. Gave me Clarkes phone no..... Who gave me a 3 month waiting time as they come from China. So they don't carry spares for a common tool.

just hacks me off week or 2 ok but month and bit?? just dont get how you can carry on like that? what i dont get is that you can get things to here from china quicker that a couple weeks so y does it take months?

They probably wait until there is a whole pile of spares to ship and send them in one go or possibly put them in the next shipping container of machinery.

Either way it is crap service!

If its still under warranty I wonder if you can do anything about getting the whole machine replaced? Surely they can do that a bit quicker!

i asked what sort of service is this ? what are people supposed to do for 2 months, reply was were are sorry but we are having problems in the east with raw materials.

the bloke said if it was a warranty job it would be at least 3 weeks thats bad enough to. looks like have to buy another saw cant wait 3 weeks. just get hacked off with compaines say cant get any quicker because parts in another country. trying to find a company that i can keep using as my business grows but not found one yet keep getting let down by service. Got a sip welder few months back and been on warranty work for over month now.

If they sell the same model ask them to strip a new machine for parts. They can either build it back up later when they get the parts or keep it for canibalising and make money out of it. I dare say they will have a couple sitting about as warranty claims they could use, depends if they have any staff that are qualified to strip a machine or a bean counter that can do the paperwork! Do Argos sell them?

It is a sad state of affairs that many companies are going this way.Even more sad is many of these companies are/were well respected brands that used to sell quality kit.

Unfortunately we are all partly to blame because we want low priced kit.

I hate having to bin something because of a broken replacement part that should cost a few quid but isn't available.

Your situation is worse in that you have something that isn't fit for purpose. Did you buy it on credit card?

I buy a lot of stuff from Hong Kong and China...mostly CNC parts and electronics......off EBAY. Sometimes I am amazed when they arrive in less than a week and the postage is so low. Two weeks is average though. It's usually cheaper now to buy off EBAY and get it posted.... even simple things like wiper blades and oil filters are cheaper than going to the local Halfrauds or motor factors.

I did try buying my CNC parts from UK suppliers...they wanted 4 times the price and guess where they got their parts from!!

On a positive note, when my Chinese bandsaw from Warco developed a gearbox oil leak after 6 months they sent me a new seal by return. I got back to them, pointing out that I had neither the time, tools nor inclination to strip the thing down they sent their van with a new replacement saw, no arguement,no charge.

had bit of bonus today one blokes i was dealing with at sip emailed me to say that they had found some parts and they would send them out today. just shame you have to moan so much wish i could be matter of " need a part for my saw ok sir we will send that straight away" instead you have to give them what for just to get some sort of help out of them. well sip have slightly redeemed them selves today.

I wish I had been offered the service you received! After my experience I would have asked for the driver to bring replacement cash and collect the item therefore halving my loss in travelling time and fuel wasted collecting and returning a rather large item. I was prepared to spend an extra £1700 on return based on the service from the warehouse guys, the "so what" attitude in the sales office and showroom persuaded me otherwise.

Customer Service used to mean something, get the guys name and let the MD know he has gone out of his way to try and help you. Sometimes it comes as shock that you are praising rather than berating their staff!

I had a different experience with parts for a 20 year old Clark MIG, got parts F.O.C. and arrived before 10A.M. the next morning. Not all back up is pants!
