I've recently purchased a second hand SIP 130 mig which is giving me some problems. The wire feed is very jerky which is causing some serious bird poo welds. It doesn't do it all the time, seems fine for the first 5 minutes but once it starts it doesn't stop. I've tried adjusting the tension on the rollers but it doesn't help. I'm guessing it might be a problem with the motor but I'm not too sure.
It also has a couple other problems. firstly, the wire feed adjuster knob only need to be moved a tiny bit an it changes the speed hugely, if I have it on setting 3 out of 10 it is way too fast even when on highest amps. Secondly, the thermal overload seems to come on a lot, although I may be abusing it as I've always used an arc welder in the past. But say I do 15-20mins of work on some 3mm and the overload kicks in?? I know it's no Murex but I thought it might do better than this!
