i had a couple of Singers, dated 1890 and 1910, i thought they are old so must be worth a fortune, a quicklook on fleabay, seems they were built to last forever and they are everywhere, sold them to someone who sent them to a vilage in Africa where they dont have electric
I've got my nan's one in the loft somewhere. She was born around 1900 and her sewing machine would not be much younger. It was a bit seized when I got it but a quick clean and lube and it now runs like a sewing machine. Fantastic piece of bombproof old school engineering.

Yes, not mine, its the old mans.
He's converted it to a magneto tester, works a treat!
He's has a collection of Lister engines and has many magnetos (stored in the warm & dry) - quick and easy way to test them now!

One thing is for sure - the surviving ones will outlast many of us.

Similar here, I salvaged one that was going to go in a skip, great condition - nice as an ornament with polished wood case, I advertised it when I was moving house and only got 1 response, sold it for about £20. Thought something so tidy and well built would be worth a lot more.
