morning, i just thought i'd put down my experience yesterday. i've got a discovery to weld and a gas bottle to make into a burner - practice and a project.
i'm using a Clark 151EN, with 0.6 gas wire and a Y argon bottle. also get me a par-weld auto-darkening mask.
1st go yday, crappy crap welds, without gas,
fiddled with the settings
2nd go slightly better welds with gas set to 10L/m
3rd go - horrible welds then no arcing
checked the welder and the earth plug had come out. then me thinks, "dont i have to switch the torch and earth clamp plugs over for gas" - YEP!
4th go, 100% better welds, better penetration, amazing what the right plug in the right socket can do. beads are very wobbly.
5th go changed the mask from 13 to 9, "i can see" - much much better welds.
i'll post some pics up later for inspection, but confidence definitely growing, ability below average. lol
