Silver Nitrate

Good morning guys. I have been thinking about this for a while now and so I turn to the collective for help and suggestions. All right, settle down at the back!
I find myself with a large quantity (one kilo or more) of Silver Nitrate crystals. Anyone any suggestions as to what to start with it? I would welcome suggestions please.

It is often used to treat anal fistulas oddly enough.

Not as daft as it sounds, I know a guy used to get the prongs of MK plugs silver plated and sell them at the Audio fairs and shows, I think they were around the twenty five quid mark and that was a good while back. I will have a look around.

Silver plating something is absolutely on the agenda, best do some bullets while I am at it :-)

Nitrates can be explosive, in any quantity.
It can be used for silver plating glass I believe, mirrors etc..

You can react it with salt to make silver chloride, for electrolessly plating silver onto other metals. I made some when I worked in a lab, still have it. Reacts with light so needs to be kept dark.
Cant remember all the details abut you also have to add salt for it to work, needs to be fine powdered salt or it will scratch off the coating. The plating is only ever one layer thick, rubbish compared to proper plating.
