Sill welding!

Hi guys, okay first job has turned up for me in the shape of my Mondeo mk3. The back end of the N/S sill needs a patch welding up. Any advice before I have a crack at it with a friend.

I have a mig welder to hand.

Not sure though on the size of the steel I need to use etc.

I usually get the a new part and cut out what I need from it, even been to scrapyard in the past and cut the bit I need from one of there cars.

Get some 18g (1.2mm) and you'll be fine. It's thick enough to weld but thin enough to bend into shape with your hands and a vice.

usually with the mondeo's when the back end of the outer sill is rottern its because the lower part of the wheel arch has gone aswell which fills up the sill in wet weather

Right I see, think ill go for the sill from the scrapyard if I can find one. Thanks guys
