Silent angle grinder or gas torch?

My mate had his bike stolen yesterday night from outside his bedroom window in a busy built up area in Edinburgh.

How do you do that without making any noise?

grinders is quick work but noisey but a battery powered bandsaw is not

even good recipesaws are quick with good blades

Cant see anything other than an abrasive wheel cutting through a hardened lock. There would be nothing left of it if it had been cut with a gas axe.

If it’s made from anything like our security locks, you’ll cut through that in a blink of an eye. I’d guess they’ve smothered the lock and grinder with something to deaden the noise

Hacksaw maybe? If it was at night etc then some noise could have been slept through

Hydraulic sheer probably, done in seconds.

Although with a lock that bad I'm surprised they didn't just bump pick it, those disc locks are crap.

As said a hydraulic shear, hand powered, £40 china special. Like the cable crimpers

You used to be able to buy ‘exhaust shears’ on eBay. Advertised for removing cats and dpfs!!

Just had a look out of curiosity and they’ve all gone so maybe a crack down?

Rebar shears would do that easy. Nice and quiet too.
