Shroud?

Some idiot had a brain fart today and tried to put the shroud on his torch the wrong way round. Ie narrow end first.
It is a 250amp Parweld torch, I think.

Anyways, I heard a click and felt a tiny thing bounce of my leg.
Next thing I knew the springy thingy that is fixed to the torch and acts as thread is unscrewing itself and has broken into three pieces.
Eh?
I managed to just about fix the shroud to the torch.
What do I need to replace? is it just the springy thingy?
What a weird system.

should just be the springy thing as you put it thats all that holds the shroud on

is the insulator on the torch or part of the shroud

Yes, you can replace just the spring Chunko.
Not sure if you can get them all by themselves, or if you need to get a pack of them.

Mr C try looking at weldequip site under MB25 spares. There is an exploded diagram of a the tourch. recon if the spring is dropping off then it's the collar that it screws onto that the shroud then screws onto. like you say weard system but allow for quick removal -cleaning- refitting. If it was a "propper thread then imagin how long that would last !

you can get a new spring form sealeys even if it is not one of their welders
i had to get one the other day cost me about £2

I did my maths today.
Two weeks back I had a new liner fitted and and a new tip, and the bit between and a new shroud. I reckon you owe me money!

I have even put the spares in a sensible place.
Normally I lose this kind of stuff, put it 'somewhere safe' and never see it again
I have now got an old tool box to keep welding tips, nozzles etc etc in.

Do you have a spare Lorch or Portamig lying about?
