Handle on shower valve broke! You can see it broken off between the On & Off at the 12 o'clock position:

we only get a couple of years out of ours......4bed x4bath x2 kitchen holiday rental.....
similar crap or the lime scale starts to work it's magic and just sometimes the chrome goes bad.....
we only fit German products........never had any luck with warranty.....
so over the years having tried to repair leaky taps etc it's just more eff to replace them.....

Fitting a water softener would help. I have one, as yet never fitted but my pipe layout, access for a drain etc makes it a bit awkward. Must relook at that. Whatever I wouldn't want it on the potable cold.

Take the cover plate off and send a photo to Divapor. They will ID for you

Thinking centre pop, drill and try a small easy out. Maybe a drop of ACF-50 on there the day before to penetrate?

I think the broken end should just unscrew. You might have to treat it as a broken off bolt and try all the usual extraction methods.

They are a badly engineered. The shoulder which contacts the dial is bigger than the threads and there is always a sharp corner where the two join, leading to a stress riser. In chromed brass, they will snap.

Remove the broken bit and get someone to make you one from polished stainless. Lightly loctite it back in so it does not need to be mega tight but still does not wobble.

If it is hard water, vinegar might be better than ACF-50 as it will be limescaled into place rather than rusted.
